Deana Hartman
Originality, color, and artistic expression
attract me to the art quilt movement. I enjoy the sculptural qualities
of the fiber medium. Each layer on the surface, piecing, appliquéing,
quilting, embellishing … adds another dimension to the story and changes
the character of the overall piece. My works emerge through process of
ideas and revisions. Inspiration is gathered from nature, religious
topics, literature, quotations and uncomplicated shapes. I am currently
working on works which stretch my perception of shape in my artwork. Two
recent series, The Off the Wall and Amoeba Art focuses on this aspect.
Recently I was featured in Quilting Arts Magazine
Fall 2004 (Bead Collage) and Fall 2001 (Artist Spotlight) as well as the
2003 Calendar. I am also in episode 157 of the new HGTV Series, Crafters
Coast to Coast, talking about The Artful Needle Book. My works can be
found in corporate and private collections across the United States.
