Strong Design: The bones of the successful art quilt

The purpose of this workshop is to learn how to make stronger designs (the bones of the art quilt) so that the work as a whole has more impact, is more direct and economical and has more emotional content.

Elizabeth Barton will show her work and discuss influences and her process, especially her consideration and approach to the elements of good design. Participants will develop design sketches and participate in discussions and critique.

Workshop is limited to 15 participants. Please see and follow registrations instructions below.

Registration Instructions:
KAQ Artist-in-Residence workshops are a service to members. However, non-members may register and a membership fee of $20 will be added to the workshop fee. Here is how it works:

·Registration for workshops is by email (bass@ku.edu) on a first-come, first-served basis.

·Registration begins ONLY at 7 p.m. CST, February 15 and remains open until all slots are filled. No registration will be taken before this date. You will receive an email notice about your reservation and info on how to complete your registration. If the workshop is full, you will be offered a wait-list number.

·Registration is completed upon receipt of the workshop fee. A mailing address will be provided in your email notice. Make your check to Kansas Art Quilters. Fee payment must be received by or postmarked no later than March 1.

·You may pay KAQ through PayPal. Please note, you will need to add $2 for the PayPal service charge.

·The workshop fee is non-refundable. In the case of a serious emergency, you may apply for a partial refund (80 percent of the fee) by notifying the workshop coordinator (Sharon Bass) two weeks in advance.

·Each participant will receive a workshop supply list once the registration is completed.
